Hi, I’m Ivy Hu.
SAN FRANCISCO ACUPUNCTURIST, TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE PRACTITIONER, and BOARD-CERTIFIED HERBALIST
My interest in Chinese medicine began long before I took my first steps to study the ancient art. I was born in China, came to the United States as a young teenager, and later graduated with an undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University in Electrical Engineering. For 12 years, I was a product engineer, but working in the corporate world was not my dream. The stress left me unsatisfied, and I could find no cures in the Western traditions of medicine. Every time I went to the doctor, I was always assured I was healthy even when I knew something wasn’t quite right.
That was when I reconnected with my desire to practice acupuncture and find healing through nutrition, herbology, and yoga. I began to focus more clearly on the things that made me feel happy and healthy, and through holistic health, I experienced true healing by listening closely to what my body was telling me. Nothing could make me feel the way that natural remedies did.
After giving birth to my first child, I decided it was time to make a big change: I left my corporate career and began my journey at the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In every way, it has been a transition worth making. It is an honor to be a part of the holistic community and promote wellness. Pursuing my passion has shown me that we have it in our power to be advocates for our own health, and that of our families and communities through natural means. I look forward to working with you in restoring your vital energy.
As a Chinese medicine practitioner, I treat patients for everything from chronic pain to anxiety, sports injuries, and fertility.
My upbringing in China, studies of traditional medicine, and experience as a corporate professional have brought me a unique perspective as a practitioner of acupuncture. I blend ancient practices with modern wellness strategies to help patients restore their vitality, discover a better way to treat their chronic pain, and find more balance.
As a former medical provider of integrated medicine for North East Medical Services, I am deeply interested in seeking the root cause (not just the symptoms) of pain. Whether you seek to rely on fewer medications, improve mobility, get back to your routine, or simply feel better, acupuncture is how we address pain at its source. By relying
on the time-tested practices of Chinese Medicine, I guide my patients to a deeper, more sustaining level of health.
Now, as a mom of two, I deeply relate to and understand how the challenges of modern life can leave us feeling worn and faded. High-stress careers, raising children, and the ups and downs of daily life are enough to take a toll on anyone.
Through acupuncture and holistic health, I guide my patients in navigating stress, experiencing moments of self-care, and finding true healing through wellness as a lifestyle and ongoing practice. It is my honor and passion to support you on your healing journey.
